Well, it’s another year over and a new one has begun. Like days, new years are a chance to start over again. It doesn’t really matter what happened yesterday or last year, this year is brand new.
My question to you is, do you know where you are going? What goals or outcomes have you set yourself? For this year, next year and even five years from now? Do you know? Do you have any idea? Is it mapped out? Are they written out?
Or are you meandering aimlessly through life, accepting mediocrity and not knowing where you will be by the end of this year? If you haven’t set yourself any goals or outcomes you are heading into an abyss of ‘sameness’. And congratulations, you are part of the herd.
You see only 6% of people (According to figures) actually spend time writing out clear goals. Quite baffling really. People who do achieve do know where they are going. They have a clear picture of exactly what it looks like. They know the type of person they want to become. They know that where they are going is aligned with their higher purpose. They know that there is ‘enough’ success for everyone and some.
More importantly they believe they will arrive at their destination. They know their goals will come to fruition. They know they have to be flexible in order to get there and are open to different possibilities. They accept feedback on their journey and actually welcome it.
Of course if you don’t want to achieve anything or you wish to remain where are you now I guess that is okay. But most people don’t. They want better things in life and I am not just on about material stuff either. They want more freedom, more choice, more time with family, friends and loved ones.
People who achieve want these things too. The difference is they set out their path before them. Starting with an end result and working backwards they have the steps to where they want to go clearly defined. Usually, their outcome is one that adds value in some way to other peoples lives.
So what now for you? Are you going to map out your route to getting what you want? Or are going to keep drifting? The latter is fine as long as by the end of the year you aren’t complaining of being in the same place as you are now.
It’s up to you my friend, it’s your choice.
