So today is Father’s day, a time to recognise our dads; the first hero in our lives or the first love, depending on whether you are male or female.
I hope you are taking the time to visit them and if that’s not feasible, call them. Create those memories that later in life you can treasure and look back on with love and happiness.
Put aside any grudges or arguments if you have found yourself in that unfortunate position of a family feud. Your dad is not immortal and won’t be around forever.
The people who have lost their dad’s would gladly give whatever they could to spend another day, another hour, five minutes to tell them they love them.
If your father is absent from your life but you are able to contact them, maybe you can put pride and hurt aside and you make the first move?
It’s not about being right, it’s about being happy.
If you are the absent father, then call your kids, they miss you, they need you, they love you. I blogged before with a personal, emotional message to absent fathers.
Yes, it may have been a long time, but they need you in their lives. Call them, message them, even if it’s just to say Hi, they will appreciate it.
Suppressed emotional hurts only damage the soul and the spirit and can lead to all sorts of disease; emotional, mental and physical.
Happy fathers day to all the great dads out there. Carry on being the awesome role model to your kids. They need great role models like you, today more than ever.
