If you have just started your own coaching, mentoring or therapy business then there are a few things you must get right. “Must” is actually an understatement. What I am going to share with you is critical to your success and growing a great business that will empower you to influence and change more lives.
They will save you time, effort and money. Why? Because these are where all your marketing efforts will flow from.
Coaching, mentoring and therapy is BIG business. In fact it is a multi-billion dollar industry and still rapidly growing.
The (Obvious) most important of your business is getting clients. However, you don’t want any old client, you want to get the right clients; the ones that need your expertise or specialist services.
All the Marketing Advice can be a Waste of Money Until You Get the Basics Right
There is so much information out there on how to market your business, how to get high paying clients, and many more how to products. And these are right. There are some excellent marketing guru’s out there too…Eban Pagan, Christian Mickelson, Callan Rush, Michael Hyatt and Ryan Deiss to name but a few.
So great tips and expert advice is in abundance.
So before you spend any money in those avenues, get these right first.
Your Purpose – Why You Are Doing What You Are Doing
You really need to nail down why you are doing what you are. Why have you entered the coaching, mentoring or therapy business? What’s in it for you?
Vague answers aren’t enough. “I like helping people” “I’m in it for the money’; ‘I didn’t like my job and wanted a change’; ‘Other people told me I a good at helping others’ won’t cut it.
Your purpose is paramount. This becomes your driver if you like. I know you are in the helping industry, but you must have a strong purpose for you.
Your Purpose for Your Clients
What do you want to achieve for your clients? Again, a great reason is needed here too.
This, in my opinion must be heart-centered if you like. By that I mean it must be a genuine purpose and something you are very passionate about and with something you may have had personal experience.
If for example you want to help depressed live a better life, you don’t necessarily have to have suffered yourself. But maybe a very close friend or family member has that deeply affected you.
Whatever it is, this needs to be available for your potential clients to see in your marketing efforts.
What’s on Your Front Door?
The internet is very crowded as you probably already know. To get noticed online can be quite difficult as there are over 1 billion dot coms and counting. And when you do get noticed you must ensure that the right people are getting in touch with you.
For this reason you have to your front door, your message online, to be saying exactly who you are going to help.
Marketers refer to this as the niche.
Imagine if you had an office door and on that door there were either many things or something to vague. Fewer people will come and knock to see who you are and what you do.
These 3 key elements in your marketing will save you time, effort and tons of money in your marketing
On the internet, your front door is the home page on your website. But on the internet, attention spans are shorter. They won’t stand there reading trying to work out what it is you do and how you can help them. They are more impatient.
So your niche, the message on your front door not only has to be clear and concise but it also needs to be compelling…I call these the 3 C’s.
Once inside of course, you can showcase all the other magnificent services you provide.
Your Own Authentic Voice
Once you have these 3 key elements you then need to speak in your own authentic voice. No heirs no graces, no copying someone else’s voice you admire…your voice.
That way you will not only attract more clients to your business, but the right clients. Get this right and then you can start attracting more of those high -paying clients you see all the adverts for!
You see being authentic is one of the best strategies you can have. Just being you in your marketing like your blogs; in your how-to videos or on your webinars works wonders in building your coaching, mentoring or therapy practice.
These 3 simple but powerful strategies will help you attract clients who want to do business with you
Too many coaches, mentors and even therapists want to be all things to all people. This is not the way. Some others I know, believe it or not, want everyone to like them.
Both of these ways to thinking about your business are not going to get you a long line of the right clients beating a path to your front door.
Self-promotion is one of the hardest things to do that’s why it is best to get an outsider or another coach to help you discover your true purpose, find your niche, paint your front door and get that message across in your authentic voice.
Remember, all your marketing will flow from these effective strategies. They keep you on track and make all your efforts easier and more cost effective.
I have helped other coaches build their coaching and mentoring businesses bigger than they thought possible (2 of them to multi-million dollar status). If you would like to get your message right in your marketing, then please go here and see how I can help you attract more of the right clients to your business.
It could cost you a lot less than you think.
