How to Visualize. Successfully. Law # 4
In this, the last Law of successful visualization, we look at the critical ingredient to making visualization work for you in your life.
It is unfortunately the one Law that seems to frighten a lot of people. There seems to be a trend out there of you can have everything you want for very little effort on your part.
The marketing of this harmful message in its various media forms is very powerful. Try not to underestimate it.
Law # 4 Work hard
But isn’t the mantra, ‘Work smart, not hard’? Nonsense. Who the heck is going to work dumb? I say you must work smart and harder. There are a lot of people out there who are working hard and smart and you need to work harder and smarter than they are.
To make your visualizations work you must take action towards your outcomes every day. It doesn’t matter so much how small the daily action is. Sounds so obvious right? Yes it does and it is. Yet so many think that visualization on its own will work and I will tell you categorically that it won’t.
And let me explain why.
Anticipation causes apprehension and apprehension causes the brain to freeze. It induces a mind paralysis if you like, thus ensuring you will not act.
Visualization is a strong form of anticipation. So the more time to you devote to it the more apprehension it can cause. This can result in it not only being ineffective, but actually producing the opposite results because your brain silently refuses to act (On an unconscious level) causing severe procrastination on your part.
To prevent your unconscious mind suffering from this inertia the remedy is to work hard by taking massive action towards whatever it is you want. This is of vital importance when you set your goal or outcome.
(In law # 2 I mentioned that you would be prompted to act; to go somewhere, call someone, email a contact, or attend a seminar or whatever. But you must act on these messages)
You must also visualize yourself happily and successfully performing the action steps you need to take.
Please, you cannot obviously believe that you can simply sit at home and visualize your grand vision of your business or accumulating massive wealth in 60 or 30 days purely by thinking about it.
So please try not to get drawn into some of the hype that is being peddled out there. Hard work is a prerequisite to success. Visualization of your goals and dreams is of course extremely useful and helpful. I believe in it whole-heartedly especially because it opens the mind to the stunning fact that anything really is possible.
If you follow the 4 laws you will find it to be true in your life too. And I do not care what your past experiences are or what your current situation is; it works.
Try it for yourself and you will see that I am right.
Alternatively go and seek out any self-made millionaire and ask them how they did it. They all visualize their outcome and have clear visions of where they will be in the future. They see all the details and consciously dream about them every day.
And they work damn hard until it becomes a reality.
