How to Increase Happiness and Your Chances of Success
Would you like to instantly fill your happiness tank and greatly increase your chances of success? If you would, then please read on…
Where will you be this time next year and what does that time look, feel and sound like to you?
You know I have asked many people that question who have said they are unhappy or stuck in a rut, or lacking success. Sometimes in a work capacity and sometimes just in general conversation. The answers vary from person to person. However, the theme running through most of the replies is the same: They simply don’t know.
It is not their fault and therefore I am not blaming or judging anyone for giving such vague answers. On the contrary, I empathize deeply with them.
(At one time in my life, I had blank pictures in my mind whenever I thought about my own future and no belief I could do anything about it)
It is one of the main reasons I do what I do; to help people find their purpose and then give them the all the tools they need to achieve it.
I love nothing more than seeing my clients achieving what they once thought was impossible and turning their life around.
A Compelling Goal, A Plan and Belief
I see quite a lot of flak flying around the web that goals are nonsense. I wholeheartedly disagree. Clear, compelling goals are important in life, both to our happiness levels and our success. They give us direction and a sense of purpose.
You see when you don’t have a clear vision of where you are going the mundane can get you down. Small matters suddenly become large issues. I see it all the time. Frustration and unhappiness becomes a big part of their life.
Don’t get addicted to an unhappy, boring, mundane way of life. There is better out there just waiting for you to grasp it
Let me give you an example.
Somebody is doing a job they detest, yet have no goals to change profession, gun for promotion or maybe start their own business. (Starting their own business might not be their cup of tea). Tasks, demands from the boss, requests from customers, all become increasingly frustrating.
Incessantly moaning and groaning about work, it’s not long before that filters into all aspects of their life and soon the complaining becomes habitual and they find themselves in a deep rut. The reason they are like this? Because they have no compelling goal or a belief that better times are on the way.
And people can become morbidly addicted to this kind of madness. I am sure you have met people like this yourself.
If you KNOW that better times are coming, why would you be upset or unhappy with life now?
With clarity of where you will be this time next year, in 3 and 5 years time and armed with an intense belief you will get there, puts a stop to all that nonsense.
And of course you must develop this intense belief in your goals, or a knowing or have complete faith that you can achieve them! When you do develop one of those (Use whichever works best for you) it can change your attitude to what you do instantly. Why?
- Because you know the dead-end job you are in now will change
- Because you know that the difficult times you are currently in will change for the better
- Because you know that your finances will change
And you have a plan and action steps of how to change it all.
Develop an intense belief that better times are on the way. Plan and then take action to make it happen
I once washed pots and pans in a busy kitchen for 6 months and it wasn’t the best of jobs I’ve ever had.
When the emotionally charged chef, under pressure to get 15 steaks out on time to a ravenous, raucous stag party would scream at me because I hadn’t washed the steak diane sauce pot quickly enough, I would simply smile.
I knew it wasn’t going to be a permanent position or become a way of life for me. I had a grand vision for myself and I therefore viewed it simply as a stepping-stone to a more brighter and compelling future that I knew was coming my way.
(You could say, for that six months, that I was ‘happily discontent’)
I had big dreams to fill (And still do incidentally). I knew that better times were just around the corner; I had no doubts whatsoever.
When you have an intense belief that life will be better soon, the rocks in your shoes become what they really are; grains of sand.
Life Becomes Truly Wonderful
So where will you be in 5 years? 3 years? 6 months? Do you have a plan of how will you get there? Are you taking action steps as often as possible towards making that outcome a reality?
And do you believe you can achieve that outcome?
When you have that compelling video in your mind of what your future looks, feels and sounds like, you play it often and just know it will soon be your reality, life becomes truly wonderful once more.
