Entrepreneurs and people who love their work (Or job) needn’t read this blog, although you can share of course 🙂
Monday mornings have, for a long time, been labelled as horrid by the media. Radio stations, I have found, being the worst culprits for this. It’s the first day of work after the weekend, so according to these media channels, they make it sound like it should be a day of national mourning.
Well, that’s how much they harp on about it.
Now, in the UK, Monday has a brand new label; one that that I suspect millions of people are already buying into or rather being brainwashed, into believing to be true (I have blogged about the importance of Labels and their influence before)
Oh, Blue Monday…
Yes, the first day of the week is now being called, Blue Monday. Soon, without doubt, more and more people will be referring to it as exactly that. This is like negative, mass brainwashing. And I think it is damaging.
We already have so many memes flying around social media about TGIF; it’s as if everything through the week is nonsense and only Friday matters. I would despise being caught up in this mass conditioning, and that’s exactly what this type of hype is creating.
People are being conditioned to hate the rest of the week and live for the arrival of Friday and the weekend. Yet thinking like this would obviously shorten the weekend. Why? because if you are one of the unfortunate ones who is in this trap, surely Sunday would be full of dread. I mean, it’s Blue Monday the next day so that’s at least Sunday night ruined.
Rather like dreading a root canal appointment you have the following day.
So if you are falling under this wicked media spell you need to reevaluate what you are doing for your profession. Are you wishing away your life waiting for Friday? Do you look forward to Monday with utter dread?
If so, would you say you are living an awesome life?
This is not about how to combat this awful thinking, but solely to make you aware. I’m writing this now so you can be prepared for when Marvelous Monday arrives. I have blogged previously about how you can love any job you are in if you are not yet ready to make a necessary change and I recommend you read it.
Think about it. Work is where you will spend most of your waking hours. How sad that it should be at a place where Monday is blue, Wednesday is totally meaningless and Friday is all that matters.
I could never live my life with that type of thinking and neither should you. Life is far too short.
If you are in this Blue Monday trap for how much longer are you going to stay in it? There is more to life than working and thinking like that. You can do it, you can make that change and find what you love to do.
Don’t buy into this nonsense, for your own sanity. And for those around you who do love Marvelous Monday.
