21 Inspiring and Favourite Quotes (And a cautionary word)
I love inspirational quotes and sayings. They can give you that little boost from time to time I guess. Personally, I only think they work if you really wire them into your nervous system. Does that make sense? In other words they must become a part of your inner being, a real part of who you are. And that leads me to my word of caution.
I see a lot of people with too many quotes or affirmations posted and dotted around their house. That means they are all running through their mind too. And the mind, if it has too much to focus on, will focus on nothing at all. So it is with positive quotes too. So if you are one of those who is always reading lots of different quotes, try and reduce them.
My advice would be to try and find two or three that you particularly like, in an area that you may think you need inspiration-or that just feels, sounds or looks right to you…and then let them soak deep into your mind and have faith in them. Well, it has worked for me.
So here are some of my favourite quotes, and just for good measure, I have thrown in a couple of my own. Or at least what I attribute to me. Hope you enjoy. Oh, and now again, I have written a few words about some of them.
“Never, never, never, never, never-give up” Sir Winston Churchill This has been wired into me for years now. One of my all time favourites.
“Anything really IS possible” Yours truly, me.
“Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong. The weak can never forgive” Gandhi
I find a lot of people get this the wrong way round. They think not forgiving is the tough way. But it clearly isn’t. Not forgiving is the easy way out. True forgiveness lifts burdens from your soul. You do it for you. It takes immense strength, but it is possible and the rewards are far greater than the strength required.
“With confidence, you can pull anything off” Katy Perry
“My life didn’t please me so I created my life” Coco Chanel
“Wanting something is not enough. You have to ask yourself, what are you absolutely prepared to do to get what you want? If you can’t answer with, ‘Yes I will do that’ you don’t really want it” Yours truly, me
“There’s always a way” Bishop Griffiths (I think he is now a Branch President of his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
When I heard this wonderful man say this some years ago now, he said it with such conviction, such belief, such faith. He said it with what I was talking about above. It was like it was truly wired into his being and it resonated with me. Oftentimes, there is power in simplicity.
“Well, I’ve had a really great night. This wasn’t one of them but I’ve had a really great night” Groucho Marx
“Life isn’t about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself” George Bernard Shaw
How many people do you hear saying that they need to ‘find themselves’? Love this quote!
“If You’re going through hell keep going” Sir Winston Churchill
Such powerful wisdom. If you keep going, I believe you come through that bit quicker.
“Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist” Picasso
“You don’t have to look different to be different or make a difference” Yours truly, me
“We know what we are, but not what we may be” Shakespeare
“I’m not a businessman. I’m a business…man” JayZ
Genius that one.
“Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs” Henry Ford
“There is no such thing as a quantum leap. There is only dogged persistence-and in the end you make it look like a quantum leap” James Dyson, Inventor
“Those are my principles and opinions. If you don’t like them, I’ve got more” Groucho Marx
(I had to put a couple of funny ones in here)
“Nothing has any meaning, other than the meaning you wish to give it” Confucius
“There is not a scarcity of opportunity to live our lives how we want to. There is only a scarcity of resolve to make it happen” Dr. Wayne Dyer
“It is in our moments of decision making that we create our future” Tony Robbins
“It is on the darkest night that the stars look their brightest” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Well, that’s your lot. Maybe I should do a part two? Who knows, maybe I will.
Remember, pick two or three that can spur you on or use them as reminders of what is inside you. And of course, you may use your own two or three in the same way.
Speak to you again soon.
